Flist, you have failed me! Why did no one inform me that The Invisible Man was so freaking fantastic?? I just marathoned both seasons in the space of-- four days? five?-- and I am IN LOVE.
The CGI's a little 2000, and there's one or two eps here and there that are just wacky (evil acupuncturists, anyone?), but mostly it's a solid show and I love the characters and I don't want it to be overrrrrrr~, *wail*
It's weird-- I almost don't want to read fanfic for it, because the characters are so very *present* in my head from having watched it in such a short span of time, and I don't want to dilute that with whatever fanon has sprung up in the last seven years, y'know? Is that strange?
(Although I do kind of want to read the one where Darien, Jake Foley and Chuck Bartowski all get tossed in the same cell. That'd be hilarious.)
( possible spoilers under the cut, although after seven years, does anyone really care anymore? )
In conclusion: If you haven't seen it yet, GO WATCH IT, mmk?

I'm so tired right now that I can actually feel the ground moving underneath me. This is rather disconcerting, seeing as how I'm on the 17th floor of a hotel (in New Orleans, in case anyone's curious), and it feels rather a lot like the building is swaying.
*fights off acrophobia*
So someone commented today on an SG1 ficlet I'd written a couple years ago for
amireal's International "How the heck did I get that bruise??" Day challenge, which I'd entirely forgotten about writing. And looking back through the archives, apparently I never actually posted it here?
I shall make up for that oversight now.
Untitled Line in the Sand Tag
Rating: PG
Word Count: 652
Pairings: mild Sam/Teal'c
Spoilers: tiny ones for Line in the Sand
( She was exhausted and dirty and in pain despite the painkillers and she hadn't taken a proper shower in days, and at the moment all she wanted was for some part of her to be, if not clean, then at least tangle-free. Was that so much to ask? )
Okay, off to bed now. I've got to get up at 5 am to catch a train at 7.

I'm off to San Diego for Comic Con! And I've finally given in and joined Twitter for the express purpose of tweeting what goes on there, so go, read that! Perhaps I'll have better luck updating that than I will this journal.
Also, if anyone has anyone they particularly need a signature from at Comic Con, I'm sure I could be persuaded to go get them. (Exceptions: Stan Lee, Joss Whedon, and Neil Gaiman, because dear Jesus, I am not crazy enough to want to stand in those lines.)

So, I finally just finished watching Chuck Versus the Ring. ( spoilers ahoy, obviously. )
Me? Posting? I know, right? But I've got massive amounts of free time on my hands these days. School is now officially out, I no longer have a job (the grant ended, sigh), and campus has this lovely media resource center that has just about every movie you could ever want, so I've been spending a lot of time catching up on entertainment.
( Movies what I have seen in the past few weeks )
And then today I caught a bus to the movie theater in the mall and saw both Up and Night at the Museum 2. (Don't worry, no spoilers.)
Up: I will not lie, I spent about a third of this movie sobbing into my hankie. Oh my God, you guys, it is fantastic. You all need to run out and go see it this very instant. (Of course, it's Pixar; were you expecting anything less??)
Night at the Museum 2: I think my favorite thing about these movies (or perhaps Ben Stiller movies in general) is their complete inability to take anything seriously. Drama? Pssh. Let's have monkeys running around instead.
Also while at the mall, I picked up the DVD of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (singing commentary, yay!) and Sarah Rees Brennan's new book, The Demon Lexicon-- currently 65 pages in, and so far it's highly enjoyable. Does remind me rather a lot of Rob Thurman's series, though. And the quote by Scott Westerfield on the cover-- "full of shimmery marvels and bountiful thunder" (???)-- makes absolutely no sense.
So, that's my life lately. And now 'tis time to go off and watch another movie, I think.

I've got five four three two Dreamwidth invites left, should anyone want one.
In other news,
m_noirtier and I have been wandering around New York City the past few days, seeing the sights and generally having an awesome time. And there's a new Cirque Du Soleil show in town! Hopefully we'll get to see that on Sunday. *crosses fingers*
In other news,
Sooo, I know I haven't exactly been posting on here lately-- not entirely sure why, TBH, besides the vague feeling that I haven't had anything interesting to say-- which is why it's ironic that I somehow managed to snag an early Dreamwidth invite. But I did!
So, y'all, I am officially alessandriana over there. I probably won't be moving permanently unless fandom decides to move en masse (I've got too much invested here!), but I'll probably cross-post entries and whatnot. (Er, when I start having things to say again, of course.)
Is anyone else over there? Reply with your usernames, so's I can friend!

Amateur crimefighters are surging in the US
Los Angeles:
For Mr Invisible, the first and last blow to his burgeoning career as a superhero was an unexpected punch that flattened his nose.
“After months of designing my costume, getting my street moves just right, it was my first week out as a Real Life Superhero – and probably my last. This tiny, tiny girl did not like me trying to calm down her screaming boyfriend. She blindsided me, I’m still bruised. It’s dangerous out there,” said the deflated would-be crime fighter last week.
Mr Invisible is cheered that at least his grey one-piece “invisibility suit” works, proven when a drunk urinated on him in an alley. But he is weary of lurking in dark, down-town Los Angeles after dark.

Two best gifts so far: a new camera, and the SG1 complete series box set. *snuggles*
Mostly for my own future reference, I'm going to keep a running rec list of Yuletide fics as I make my way through. So far, we have:
( List under the cut. Warning: Loooong. )

First off, sorry about the radio silence as of late; I've been in a kind of anti-social mood, due in no small part to the omnipresence of the election. Politics (or at least the poisonous rhetoric that surrounds politics) has this tendency to piss me off unreasonably, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.
That said! Don't expect there to be much going on around here for the next month or so, either, because it's that time of the year again: NaNoWriMo! Like last year, I will be posting most everything NaNo related under friendslock* over at
alessandriana, so if you want your daily dose of me, you'll have to get it there. This year the theme is superheroes!** Should be fun.
*I friend everyone who friends me; it's just locked so that the novel doesn't escape into the wilds of the internet. Not that anyone would want to steal it, but...
**It will also be my first attempt to write any sort of romance, so if anyone has tips they'd like to share? That would be awesome.

Did you know that there's actually a conspiracy to put rainbows in our water supply? Yes, really:

And my favorite, from the same woman: IS THE MOON A MIRROR?
( video and further text examples under the cut )
Also, contrails? Actually chemtrails. Yes, passenger planes are actually spraying chemicals down upon us.

Title: Ignition
Rating: PG
Word Count: 2500
Pairings: None.
Spoilers: None.
Summary: AU-ish. Tim scratches the back of his head, shrugging. "What can I say, Tony? You controlling fire with your mind is honestly not the weirdest thing I've ever seen on this job."
Notes: Technically an X-Men crossover (I think), but about all you really need to know is that hey, superpowers exist, and not everyone is real happy about that.
Thanks to
m_noirtier and isis_sg1 for the beta.

Joss Whedon's new internet-only show, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, is officially really awesome. (OMG, a singing Nathan Fillion! And the main character: so adorably shy!) The three eps are coming up this week, and are only going to be up for a little while, so I'd recommend watching it while you can. (It looks like the website is down right now, but hopefully it'll be back up later tonight once traffic drops.)
Speaking of awesome: saw SG1's Continuum, totally loved it. Though, does anyone know where it fits in, timeline-wise, with SGA?
Speaking of awesome, redux: I highly, highly recommend Saiunkoku Monogatari for any of you anime fans out there who are tired of the girls in shoujo always being ridiculously irritating and having no spine. You know that stereotypical scene where the guy is trying to blackmail the girl, and the girl has no choice but to give in and then bursts into tears? Well, in Saimono, not only does Shuurei resist the blackmail, but she then reduces the guy to tears. It's one of the best scenes ever.
Besides, how can you resist a series that has this guy? (Yes, that's a snowman on his head.)
